Blues for Thad--Grade 4
***to listen to the piece, scroll down to the bottom of the page!
"Blues for Thad" (composed and arranged by Mckenna Reeve) is a swinging, funky Eb blues in the style of Thad Jones with a little Mckenna twist. This is a great vehicle for equal opportunity improvising--less experienced players will be comforted by a familiar form, and the turnaround will provide a challenge for more experienced players. This chart is best for a strong high school or young college band.
The chart is orchestrated 4 tpt/4 bone/5 saxes/full rhythm section, and lead alto doubles soprano sax (if you don't have a soprano an optional alto only part is included). Solo changes are in the piano and bari sax parts, and the initial solo section at the top of the chart is designed to be easy to open up for more players. The lead trumpet's highest note is concert B5, and lead bone's highest note is concert A4.
Included:
-an 11x17 transposed score PDF
-8.5x11 part PDFs
-an mp3 recording to share with the band
